No fewer than 14 school districts provide education for children in Fort Worth. TheFort Worth Independent School District has nearly 80,000 students and more than 10,000 educators and staff. The FWISD has 80 elementary schools, 24 middle schools and 13 high schools, along with 22 alternative education facilities. There are also nine private high schools in Fort Worth.

There are nine colleges and universities in Fort Worth, led by Texas Christian University and Texas Wesleyan University. Others include Brite Divinity School, College of Saint Thomas More, Tarrant County College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, University of Texas at Arlington (Ft. Worth Campus) and University of North Texas Health Science Center.
